Excerpts from operas by Leoncavallo, Mascagni, Ponchielli, Puccini and Verdi

Faithful to its annual date with the Athens Festival and adjusting to this year’s unusual circumstances, the Greek National Opera presents two opera galas at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

In ther second Greek National Opera gala at the Odeon, on Tuesday 28 July, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy three internationally acclaimed opera stars, Celia Costea, Giorgio Berrugi and Tassis Christoyannis, who will perform famous arias and duets from operas by Verdi (Luisa Miller, Il trovatore, Ernani, Un ballo in Mascherα, La traviata), Ponchielli (La Gioconda),  Leoncavallo (Pagliacci) and Puccini (Tosca), as well as popular Introductions and orchestral excerpts. The Orchestra of the Greek National Opera will be conducted by renowned Italian conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi.

The lauded star of the Greek National Opera Cellia Costea has been distinguished in numerous international singing competitions and has had a brilliant career, performing in some of the world’s greatest theatres and concert halls. Her performances in iconic roles of Verdi and Puccini operas stand out for their sensitivity.

GNO’s renowned Greek baritone Tassis Christoyannis, along with his appearances in Greece, has conquered the most prestigious European opera houses and opera festivals. He has collaborated with celebrated conductors and acclaimed directors and has shared the stage with world-class leading singers"

The Athens & Epidaurus Festival will be realised in compliance with the special directives issued by the Ministry of Health, with consideration for public health and a sense of responsibility towards the public and artists.

Audiences are kindly requested to arrive at the venue 90’ prior to the start of the performance, to avoid inconvenience, in compliance with the health authorities’ instructions.

All seats (upper and lower tier) are numbered.

All tickets are strictly personal and non-transferable.

During ticket purchase, the name of the person using the specific ticket must be submitted.
