Following the success of last year’s performance on the roof of the railway headquarters in downtown Athens, Anestis Azas and Prodromos Tsinikoris were invited to experiment with a theatrical documentary about an institution that has left its mark on Modern Greek theatre. The project set out to create an on-stage landscape based on live accounts and historical research, putting local people, artists and theatre-goers in the spotlight: from distant memories of the first production in 1938, via the dress rehearsal of 1954 and the official opening of the Epidaurus Festival in 1955, through to the present day.
