Antigones Readings
The event is cancelled
Wishing to draw attention to the intermediary role of translation, we juxtapose on stage the character of Antigone as Sophocles portrays her, based on the ancient myth, with how the heroine was much later depicted by Jean Anouilh and Bertolt Brecht, thus highlighting the art of translation. Dimitris Maronitis, Stratis Paschalis, Eleni Varopoulou and a number of performers will read excerpts from different versions of Antigone which have been published by Gonis Editions in the “Alterations” series.
Free entrance for priority coupon holders. Due to the limited availability of seats, coupons will be distributed the day of the event at 19.00 at the entrance of the Institut français de Grèce.
