Norah Jones in Concert
Upon the release of this young American singer’s 2002 début Come Away With Me on the legendary Blue Note jazz label, there was talk of the emergence of a new Carole King, or a more country version of Joni Mitchell. But actually, Norah Jones is quite distinctly… Norah Jones, just like every artist for whom pursuing their own personal sound is the only way it could have been. She reintroduced the public to the simple formula of a singer in front of a piano, a singer who can enchant for an entire evening with her songs, lyrics and voice alone, and has no need of elaborate stage shows. She is a singer-songwriter of great vision who composes exquisite melodies.
Five years after her highly successful début, which turned the financial fortunes of Blue Note, set a new music trend and spawned copycat singers, and in the wake of two more albums, the 28-year-old is continuing in the vein of sensitive song-writing, creating confessional jazz and playful country music.
