Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata
Stone Soup
by Stathis Gyftakis
This musical fairytale was created, like the stone soup in the famous Chinese folk tale, by a group of children and adults working together: composer Stathis Gyftakis and the students of the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata, visual artist Emilia Bantouna and the kids at the “Bleu Telia” workshop, choreographer Dimitris Sotiriou and Lilly Triantari, who penned the lyrics. Gathered around a massive cauldron, an entire village learns that a soup “made of stones” can nourish body and soul as its mouth-watering aroma creeps through the cracks, opening doors and creating new communal bonds.
