As dancers in The Forsythe Company, they began experimenting with choreography back in 2007, creating and dancing in works which sought to merge composition and performance. In the duet Eifo Efi, Ioannis Mandafounis and Fabrice Mazliah attempt a study of duality – not as a simple numerical addition, but as a new reflection on on-stage coexistence. A mirror floor creates a world of multiple images as the two dancers question the limits of performativity by introducing the spoken language and playful movement motifs. The resulting visual-audio paradox stimulates the audience’s gaze and senses.
