Both Fiona Shaw and Phyllida Lloyd seem to be thrilled by their Epidaurus experience, having rehearsed for only a few nights at the Little Theatre.
“It is as if we have stepped into a paradise, into a history sketchbook; we feel that all the potential for a good performance is there. This smaller theatre is so welcoming, the scenery is breathtaking, the environment so exciting. Hopefully we can transfer this excitement to what is after all a simple poem”, said Fiona Shaw.
Phyllida Lloyd added: “All the elements we need for this performance are here and for free: full moon, the sea, the lights of the small town in the distance plus the savage wind… we expected heat but we found much more: the perfect space for The Rime of the Ancient Mariner”
