Τhe Board of Hellenic Festival S.A. was notified of Jan Fabre’s following letter:

 

“Hereby I, Jan Fabre, resign as the curator of the Hellenic Festival.
I accepted a mandate from the Minister of Culture of Greece to make in all freedom artistic choices.
This seems no longer to be possible in Greece.
I do not want to work in a hostile artistic environment to which I came with open mind and open heart.
I wish the Greek artists good luck with their work and their Festival.”

The Chairman has convened an emergency meeting of the Festival’s Board of Directors for Monday, April 4 at 16.00.
