Derek Jarman takes on the challenge of Shakespeare’s swan song. Twelve years after he lost the Duchy of Milan to the machinations of his brother Antonio, Prospero find himself forgotten on a desert island with his daughter Miranda. During his time there, he has conquered the mysteries of magic and when Fate brings Antonio’s ship close by the island, Prospero uses his powers to conjure up a tempest and sink it. Will his actions serve to ‘restore’ the natural order of things.
