A documentary titled Epidaurus Lyceum – A Summer School of Ancient Drama will air on the ERT2 television network on Friday, January 12, at 20:00, as part of the Close Up programme.
Young actors, dramaturgs, directors, choreographers, musicians, ethnologists and theatre researchers exchanged opinions and approaches on ancient drama in the iconic area of Epidaurus; a creative meeting bringing together tradition and innovation, ancient and contemporary culture, body and emotion through the exploration of two principal themes: the actor and the theatre.
In its inaugural year, Epidaurus Lyceum, the newly launched educational institution of Athens & Epidaurus Festival, realized in cooperation with the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of the Peloponnese and the Municipality of Epidaurus, encompassed a student body of 120 drama and theatre students and alumni of theatre and drama schools from around the world. Guided by the Lyceum’s teaching staff, consisting of 20 professionals from Greece and abroad, the students explored both in theory and in practice the Lyceum’s inaugural theme for 2017: The Arrival of the Stranger.
