Michael Kliën has worked as an artistic consultant to William Forsythe, choreographed for the Ballett Frankfurt, among others, and presented performances at the Hayward Gallery; the Vienna-born artist is a citizen of the world, sharing his time between Greece and Ireland. Jerusalem is an unusual interactive work in which 14 citizens of Athens of differing personal characteristics (age, skills and abilities) join forces to dance. Imagined as an urgent response to the crisis of Western civilization, the work aims to provide a ceremonial site for sensing and moving.
The performance will reveal hidden connections that interlace human existence, and visitors will be able freely wander around and amidst the action.
