Celebrating the 250 year anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth, the ERT National Symphony Orchestra presented an impressive gala dedicated to the music of the legendary German composer, held at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus on 8 August.
The Orchestra presented Beethoven’s brilliant and uplifting Symphony No. 1, the great composer’s single concert aria, featuring world-class soprano Myrtò Papatanasiu, under the baton of world-renowned, multi-award-winning conductor George Petrou, in his debut as new music director of the ERT National Symphony Orchestra. The evening programme also included the divine Piano Concerto No. 4, performed by acclaimed Greek pianist Alexandra Papastefanou, as well as Three Equali, composed by Beethoven for a performance originally held on All Souls’ Day.
