Doug Aitken

Black Mirror

Black Mirror, the new video-performance by the American visual artist Doug Aitken, is presented for the first time in Greece, in a collaboration of the DESTE Foundation with the Athens Festival. In the format of a video projection and a play which unfold simultaneously on a ship, Black Mirror is, according to Aitken himself, a simple allegory on the dark aspects of peoples' lives' in the beginning of the 21st century.  '...a parallel world where the globalised market, the influence of digital culture and the dependence on mass media, in synergy with the daily lives of diverse people around the globe, create a fragile reality, in which everything moves with lighting speed and nothing is what it appears to be...
