Eleftherios Veniadis
Georgios Souris NOW
Eleftherios Veniadis presents a musical spectacle based on the poetry of Georgios Souris for choir, youth choir, musical ensemble and two actors. The production adopts the hybrid, holistic approach of music theatre, which breaks down the barriers between musicians, actors, singers, sound, speech and on-stage action. The painfully timeless poetry of Georgios Souris (1853-1919) shines a critical light on contemporary reality. The decision to render his verse through real-life accounts of dealings with the Greek public sector (!) serves to underscore the uncomfortable symbiotic relationship between the modern Greek realities of the 19th and 21st centuries.
