Periklis Koukos
Lyric Dialogues
Periklis Koukos’ engagement with the fairytale, dreams and the fantastical seems anything but random. His musical ideas are often played out in a dematerialized, sui generis timespace in which memories of the past intertwine with the sound of the present in an intoxicating mixture which goes beyond established historical and aesthetic categories, and whose sole, fixed defining feature is its charming lyricism. Reflecting the eclectic spirit of his compositions, the concert confronts them with fragments of musical traditions beginning with the Baroque and extending through Romanticism to contemporary classical music and jazz. The works are performed by distinguished lyric singers of the younger generation under the experienced guidance of Dimitris Giakas [Kh.G.].
