Cycle A of Epidaurus Lyceum, the educational programme of Athens & Epidaurus Festival, will come to a close with the presentation of the workshop Citizens Defeated, to be held on Sunday, July 15 at the Ancient Stadium of Epidaurus.
For two weeks, the Epidaurus Lyceum students investigated the manifestation of choral interludes in ancient drama, with the chorus being transformed into a tool of resistance against fear, and a means of exchanging stories and narratives.
The workshop presentation takes off from the eponymous performance by Patricia Apergi and Aerites Dance Company. The main premise is a society beyond breaking point, whose smiling citizens have fought and run themselves to exhaustion. Or, could it be that, through defeat they’ve come to win everything?
