The Athens & Epidaurus Festival gives the opportunity to children and their mothers associated with the Reception and Identification Service in Lygourio to attend a series of creative workshops aiming at entertaining and educating them through theatre-based games and the visual arts.
These activities fall under the Educating Audiences in Ancient Drama programme, aimed at Argolis residents of all age groups. The main goal is to strengthen ties between artists and the local community, and to empower the members of the community on pertinent issues highlighted by theatre.
This event is held in collaboration with the Department of Theatre Studies, University of the Peloponnese, by experienced theatre educators, members of the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network.
The events include communication, trust, personal and collective expression exercises, music and movement exercises, visual arts activities which aim to bring together youths from different countries, languages or cultures through extralinguistic activities, as well as self-expression and development of participants’ ability to synthesize.

The events are held with the support of the FILOXENIA programme. Through this programme, the International Organization for Migration aims at supporting sensitive social groups, providing services of decent accommodation, aid and protection in accommodation facilities in the mainland, with support by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME).
