This year’s Odeon of Herodes Atticus programme ended with a bang: a mesmerising evening concerto paying tribute to the 250 years since Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth.
The Athens State Orchestra, under the baton of its distinguished artistic director and conductor Stefanos Tsialis, beautifully performed The Creatures of Prometheus and Symphony No. 7, thrilling its numerous loyal fans who attended the concerto despite that afternoon’s bad weather.
In between the two Beethoven works, the flourishing and exceptionally gifted pianist Alexia Mouza gave a passionate performance of Dmitri Shostakovich’s electrifying Concerto No. 1.
