Following its successful premiere at the Athens Festival on 30 June 2017, The Institute of Global Loneliness by the blitz theatre group is about to go on a world tour. Two performances will be held on 24-25 November at Kaserne Basel in Basel, Switzerland, kicking off the production’s world tour.

The Institute of Global Loneliness is the latest performance by the blitz (comprised of Giorgos Valais, Aggeliki Papoulia, Christos Passalis) to go on a world tour. Audiences worlwide have already been exposed to other works by the group, including Late Night (on tour since 2012), Don Quixote and Galaxy, to name but a few.

The present performance is inspired by Thomas Mann’s classic novel The Magic Mountain, tackling the issue of excruciating loneliness. The characters of the play have all voluntarily admitted themselves into a peculiar institute, struggling to fight off loneliness through games, discussions, and exercises.
