A streetcar

Adoped by Tennessee Williams’ “A streetcar named desire”

The legendary streetcar stops in Athens for Blanche DuBois to alight… The play that made Tennessee Williams’ name (New York, 1947) is haunted by legendary performances on stage and screen.

Krzysztof Warlikowski sheds light on the heroine’s inner world in parallel with the action as she is destroyed by the clash with her sister’s husband: innovative and poetic, the Polish director captures her face and its deep lines on video and adds memories from her readings. Blanche is played by the great Isabelle Huppert.
