Athens State Orchestra – A tribute to Mikis Theodorakis
A tribute to Mikis Theodorakis
The work of Mikis Theodorakis, who turns ninety this year, has been sealed by the post-war history of our country which it has likewise indelibly marked. Therefore, each new presentation of popular works by the leading composer, such as the inspired Symphony No. 1 (1954) or the emblematic Axion Esti of Odysseas Elytis (1960-1962), is so much more than just a pleasant reminder of his music. It renews listeners’ acquaintance with sounds, melodies, emotions, events and visions which constitute an integral part of the historic and aesthetic identity of the Greek people.
Part of the income of the concert will go to charity.
