Athens State Orchestra – Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra
Works by Mozart and Strauss
The Athens State Orchestra hosts the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra and Vassilis Christopoulos, the orchestra’s principal conductor since 2005. In the first part of the concert, the German orchestra will perform Mozart’s magnificent Symphony no. 41 or Jupiter Symphony, the composer’s greatest orchestral achievement. After the intermission, the two orchestras will join forces to perform Richard Strauss’s An Alpine Symphony to honour the 150th anniversary of the great German composer’s birth.
