The Light of the World

2013: Cavafy Year. Dimitris Papadimitriou’s musical settings for verses by the Alexandrian poet brought Greek song and symphonic music together. Choreographed for the first time by the Hellenic Dance Company, they are performed by Fotini Darra, a singer who has performed musical settings of Greek poetry on the international stage. Returning to the world of dance and theatre, she is joined by 22 dancers and the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra, conducted by the composer. The second part of the programme features songs by Dimitris Papadimitriou with lyrics by Nikos Gatsos, along with some of his greatest hits.
