Iphigenia in Tauris
Johann Wolfang von Goethe
The “Epoche” Theatre (1986-1990, the company that gave us the unforgettable production of Jouvet-Elvire) opens the Athens Festival’s theatre programme. Vassilis Papavassiliou both directs and performs, alongside younger actors, delivering a version of Goethe’s Iphigenia in Tauris, a work inspired by Euripides and influenced both by the Sturm und Drang movement and humanistic ideals.
