Tamerlano
by Georg Friedrich Händel
A ruthless Tartar conqueror, a Turkish sultan with his beautiful daughter, and Byzantine nobles in a tale of deadly rivalry, passion and court intrigue set against the backdrop of the Golden Horde’s incursion into Asia Minor in the 15th century. This vibrant, larger-than-life baroque opera by the master of the genre, Georg Friedrich Händel, is performed in line with contemporary, historically-informed baroque performance practice.
