Hellenic Association of Theatre and Performing Arts Critics

“Literature and Theatre: Avenues and Dead Ends”

Launching a collaboration between the Athens Festival and the Hellenic Association of Theatre and Performing Arts Critics, this symposium will focus on an important issue that concerns almost the entire Greek theatre world, veteran and younger theatre artists in Greece and abroad: the stage adaptation of literary works. The president of the Hellenic Association of Theatre and Performing Arts Critics, Savvas Patsalidis, several members of the association, and co-curator of Athens & Epidaurus Festival for contemporary Greek theatre, Dimitra Kondylaki, will give short lectures, in view of the fact that this year’s Festival programme is relevant to the issues addressed in the conference. Following the lectures, there will be a roundtable discussion chaired by members of the Hellenic Association of Theatre and Performing Arts Critics, with the participation of select artists and experts (Simos Kakalas, Marianna Calbari, Auguste Corteau, Vassilis Mavrogeorgiou, Vassilis Noulas, Kostas Papakonstantinou, Stavros Tsakiris, Sofia Filippidou, Kostas Filippoglou, Vangelis Chatzivasiliou) who are expected to cover the various aspects of the issue through short interventions, followed by discussion with the audience.
