Musically, Monika has covered a lot of ground in a short time. In fact, her journey has taken her as far afield as Brooklyn, whose unique musical melting pot is forever on the boil, producing just the kind of new trends and fine musicians she wanted for her new album, which flirts with the black music tradition (soul, funk, R&B). There, she hooked up with the legendary Dap Kings, who back the singular Sharon Jones and have worked with Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and the Menahan Street Band. That some of those musicians will be playing alongside her at the Herodeion can only boost her musical capital still further.
