Poreia Theatre – Dimitris Tarlow

The Great Chimera
by Μ. Karagatsis

M. Karagatsis’ The Great Chimera, one of the most renowned and best-loved of Greek novels, is to be presented for the first time at the Athens Festival by the director, and grandson of the writer, Dimitri Tarlow, in an adaptation by the poet Stratis Paschalis. In this production, theatre interplays with the art of cinema; human relationships in all their difficulty, passions and acts become snapshots of reality and fragments of a dream. The female gaze and the male desire shed eye-opening light on the diachronic ambivalence that marks the relationship between East and West. It is our relationship with the dream-like Other.
