The Adventures of Prince Rama
An exceptional ensemble from Bali, Indonesia is coming to Greece for the first time to perform a spectacle, directed with modern audiences in mind, that breathes life into the rich traditions of the island – its dances, music, costumes and masks. The myth of Prince Rama throws up age-old questions that litter the great epic works, and concerns itself with the battle between good and evil, the clash between gods and humanity, and the overarching power of destiny. The beautiful melodies of the gamelan, the rhythmic beats of the wooden drums in an explosion of battle music, and the cathartic coupling of the metallophones and wind instruments that accompany the choreographed Kecak ensemble all come together to create a vibrant mosaic of sounds and images.
