The Vienna Boys’ Choir & The Vienna Chamber Orchestra
Works by Mozart
When established in the court of Maximilian I in 1498, the Vienna Boys’ Choir employed the services of just six boys; today it boasts around 100 choristers aged between 10 and 14. The choir works with high-calibre conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta and Seiji Ozawa, appears in concert halls and opera houses as well as at festivals, goes on tours, and makes recordings and film appearances. The most famous boys’ choir in the world is coming to Athens to perform works by Mozart conducted by Gerald Wirth, who began his music training in the very same choir. Performing with them is the equally prolific Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and the foremost Greek flutist Nikos Nikopoulos.
