Thessaloniki State Orchestra

A tribute to Franz Liszt

Marking the bicentenary anniversary of the birth of Franz Liszt, the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, in a distinctly … romantic mood, devotes its concert to the Hungarian composer with works by Liszt (Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 and the Second Concerto for Piano and Orchestra), Schubert (Wanderer Fantasy adapted for piano and orchestra by Liszt ) and Brahms (Third Symphony).

The conductor  Alexandros Myrat, was until recently director, and as of the new season is musical director of the ELS.  Cyprien Katsaris, the Greek-Cypriot pianist internationally recognised  for his virtuosity,  is the soloist.
