Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra – Vassilis Varvaresos

Since its inception in 1959, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra has become one of the most significant cultural institutions in Greece. Boasting a creative team of 105 musicians, the Orchestra collaborates with internationally acclaimed conductors, renowned for their album discography and their involvement in multiple educational and social activities.  Conducted by its artistic director, Georgios Vranos, the Orchestra will perform Giannis Konstantinidis’s Dodecanese Suite No. 1. Collaborating with Vassilis Varvaresos, the Orchestra will also present Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18. In the second part of the performance, the Orchestra will perform P. I. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64.

This collaboration marks an important performance in Varvaresos’ global 2017-2017 tour, which includes appearances in numerous festivals around the world, and collaborations with orchestras worldwide, in preparation of his next album.
