“The TYPANA percussion ensemble was formed for educational purposes at the Athenaeum conservatoire three years ago. A percussion class tackling works by John Cage, George Crumb, Yanni Xenaki, Maurice Ohana, J.S. Bach, Steve Reich and other important composers, set itself goals and was soon collaborating with the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, the Zurich Ballet and the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia. The ensemble has proved a success for us, allowing us to play together so as to enhance our knowledge, and a joy, for we are truly in percussion paradise.”
