Yorgos Kimoulis

Plutus
by Aristophanes

Given that money is now the foundation on which our entire value system is built, this production focuses on an event which most other stagings of Aristophanes’ play overlook entirely: the fact that, at the end of the play, the poet installs the god of Wealth in the state, thereby giving the citizens the opportunity, since all essential goods are now public, to seek real riches in the ideas and values they may have forgotten.
