The first day of the workshop is addressed to composers, musicians, music ensembles, as well as the lay public interested in contemporary artistic creation.
Kaleidoskop will share with participants how to operate and manage an ensemble, the strategies for programme development and planning collaborations with artists from various disciplines, as well as fund-seeking practices.
By highlighting Kaleidoskop’s experience and ways of working, the workshop aims to initiate a creative discussion on steps that could boost Greek creativity’s extroversion.

Founded in 2006 in Berlin, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop has since been dedicated to developing new forms of experimental music theatre.
With an open mindset, the ensemble creates new formats of collaboration with international artists from other music genres and scenes.
In recent years, Kaleidoskop has been particularly interested in the performing body of the musician on stage.
The ensemble members has evolved from pure instrumentalists to performers and co-authors of these collaborative productions.
Kaleidoskop perceives musical theatre as a site of encounter and community, a site of envisioning new ways of coexistence.
14 April 2024
12.00 – 16.00
The second day of the workshop, moderated by the composer Maya Dunietz and the Kaleidoskop Ensemble, is exclusively addressed to string and wind instrumentalists (violin, viola, cello, double bass, woodwinds and brass).
The workshop will explore the sound realms produced by the microtonal tuning system that Dunietz has developed over the past two years.
Moving beyond the twelve-note well-tempered scale, Dunietz’s system is based on relative tuning, where each performer tunes to the subtle pitch difference between their sound and that of their next closest performer.
Kaleidoskop, who has recently been collaborating with Dunietz, invite us to experiment together in developing this new sound by exploring techniques such playing drones (long and sustained sounds created by long strokes or sustained breathing).
