The countdown for this year’s Athens & Epidaurus Festival has begun!
Mark the date: Athens Festival will premiere with three brilliant performances on June 1st. Peiraios 260 will open up with a production first presented at last year’s Festival to rave reviews: Dimitris Kourtakis’ Failing to Levitate in My Studio. Also at Peiraios 260, the USA-based Nature Theater of Oklahoma will present Pursuit of Happiness, a parody of the American Dream. Meanwhile, at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), audiences will be spellbound by Ivo van Hove’s masterwork After the Rehearsal – Persona, a stage adaptation of two Ingmar Bergman classics.
This year’s Festival trailer was directed by the distinguished Pericles Hoursoglou and is visually conceived as a series of thousands of footsteps: the thousands of speactors rushing to the ancient and contemporary theatre venues from 1955 to our times.
This year, for the first time ever, all performances will come English and Greek supertitles, giving to Greek and foreign spectators, and even the hearing impaired, the opportunity to enjoy them.
