The Angel Ablaze

Maria Klonaris and Katerina Thomadaki have been active on the international avant-garde art scene for almost four decades now creating installations, performances, films, videos, plays, photographs and sound art. In “The Angel Ablaze”, the Paris-based duo will be presenting a retrospective in the form of a masterclass with the use of abundant audio-visual material. This will be followed by screenings of films from “The Angel Cycle”: Requiem for the 20th century, Pulsar, Quasar and Angel Scan, with music by Spyros Faros. Their inspiration: the medical photograph of a hermaphroditic woman found in the archive of Klonaris’ obstetrician-gynaecologist father in 1985. The event ends with a round-table discussion featuring the artists themselves and art historians who have written on their work.
