Ludovic Lagarde

Angela

Following the publication of a collection of ten plays of the classical Greek repertory translated into French and edited by Olivier Descotes (Panorama des écritures théâtrales de la Grèce moderne, 1830-1958, L’Espace d’un instant), Ludovic Lagarde, director of the Comédie de Reims, presents a reading of Angela by Greek French-speaking actors.

In the 1950s, Angela leaves her village to work as a maid in a prominent Athenian family. She meets other young women with whom she shares her hopes for a better life. The play offers a thrilling insight into Greece after the Civil War.
