Melina Tanagri in Concert
Nine to Eleven: French
From Padre Marini and Plaisir d’amour to the first French slam poet Grand Corps Malade (2006): French songs diverse in both style and date are presented here. An interest in contradictions and associations has placed an aria by Saint-Saëns alongside the music of Astor Piazolla and Kurt Weill (performed in French), love songs next to rap music, the old great singer-songwriters (Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens, Serge Gainsbourg, and Barbara Ferré) alongside a younger generation (Alain Souchon, Carla Bruni, and Lhasa), and songs by Pink Martini and Patricia Kaas side by side with French ethnic works (by Ismaël Lô, and others).
Duration 1 hour and 30 minutes with no interval.
