Nikos Hatzopoulos
Solitaire, by Maria Laina
Two men in a room. One is playing Solitaire while the other looks on. What is their relationship? Words find and lose their meaning. The game comes to a dead end; the balance is disrrupted. A stranger appears. This man is “a solution… of sorts.”
Writer Maria Laina uses realistic language to craft an archetypal world devoid of realism. Director Nikos Hatzopoulos, a regular guest of the Athens Festival, seeks to penetrate the inner recesses of human relationships and explore the great dilemmas that lie within.
