Solos and duets from the Greek dance scene
Through the Looking Glass
Goddesses in Exile / What Scratches the Glass from the Inside
Female bodies on stage at the Athens Festival, with two remarkable Greek female dancer-choreographers expressing the resurgence in passion for the intimate dance form through their distinct styles.
In her solo What Scratches the Glass from the Inside, Katerina Papageorgiou rises to the challenge of exposing herself alone on stage in a solo performance which explores the substance of dreams. Utilising self-observation, she focuses on the mechanics of movement and frees herself of narcissistic stereotypes in the process.
In her duet, Goddesses in Exile, Zoi Dimitriou, who teaches and choreographs in London, exchanges material, experiences and actions with Juliette Burton, centring on issues of female identity in mythology and fiction. [Κ.V.]
