Theatre in a Caravan
VAUDEVILLE, One Night Just For You
Much-loved Greek artists are coming together in these difficult times to offer us their art, “to relieve and entertain our material and moral pain”. The Theatre in a Caravan is to revive a forgotten Athenian form of entertainment: the variety show.
Indebted to the European “théâtre des variétés”, this form reached Greece at the end of the 19th century to become a crowd-pleasing mixed spectacle incorporating actors, singers, animals, wrestlers, mimes, clowns, puppets, acrobats and magic tricks into dramatic or comic numbers, songs, games and dances.
