Armonia Atenea – The Friends Of Music Orchestra

Kiss Μe, Kate by Cole Porter

Many consider this the best musical ever written. Kiss Μe, Kate, which balances between classic musical and opera, was first presented in 1948 and was an immediate hit with audiences and critics.

Faithful to the belief that quality and the classical know no bounds, Armonia Atenea and George Petrou bring their familiar passion to what is for them a new musical sphere: American music theatre. For their first venture into the genre they have chosen perhaps the most ‘classical’ musical in Broadway history: Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate. This ironic ‘post-theatrical’ treatment of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew displays the inventiveness, intelligent humour and unabashed emotiveness that typify the work of its charismatic creator and receives its Greek premiere in its authentic 1948 form.
