Choros Theatre Co – Simos Kakalas

erofili synopsis

Simos Kakalas’ youthful company has devoted its considerable talents to an exploration of traditional forms of modern Greek theatre and the associated stagecraft. In this, their latest venture, they take on Erofili by “the most scholarly and noble Master Georgios Chortatsis of Crete”.
A production-in-progress, this superb Renaissance tragedy featuring a tyrannical king who “offered his daughter not only the head, but also the heart and hands of her beloved Panaretus in a basin”, proceeds in this version from narration to a masquerade of shifting identities.
