ERT National Symphony Orchestra - George Petrou

Fête de la Musique
Works by Wagner, Schumann

The ERT National Symphony Orchestra returns to the Odeon of Herodes Atticus for its annual Fête de la musique (World Music Day) concert, pre-senting two of the greatest masterpieces of the Romantic symphonic repertoire: the popular Siegfried Idyll, dedicated by Wagner to his last great love, Cosima von Bülow, for the birth of their son, Siegfried, and Symphony No. 2, which Schumann composed at a time when his mental health was failing, a fact that delayed the completion of this work, without diminishing in the slightest his mature, brilliant style.

The concert will be performed under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor George Petrou, one of the leading Greek conductors and musical director of the ERT National Symphony Orchestra.
