Lucy Guerin

Untrained

Lucy Guerin, an Australian dancer and choreographer clearly influenced by the 1960s American postmodernists who loved the simplicity of the body in its daily tasks, makes her Greek debut with Untrained. As the title suggests, she is fascinated by unsophisticated movement and in this work places a male quartet on stage: two trained dancers alongside two brave and cheerful amateur performers who make huge efforts to meet the demands of the challenging movement  material. The huge disparity in their abilities is at first hilarious to see, but by the end they manage to steal the show. After all, dance stopped being solely about bravura displays of technical skill long ago.
