Athens & Epidaurus Festival 2018 organizes a masterclass taught by the internationally acclaimed choreographer Boris Charmatz.
The workshop is intended for professional dancer and choreographers, as well as for students of professional dance schools.

Artist bio

Over the last twenty years, the dancer and choreographer Boris Charmatz has presented numerous memorable pieces, from Aatt enen tionon (1996) to the recent 10000 gestes (2017). The artist tours extensively, while also participating in improvisational projects with Saul Williams, Archie Shepp, and Médéric Collignon. As a performer, he continues collaborating with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Tino Sehgal. He has co-authored the books undertraining / On A Contemporary Dance with Isabelle Launay,Emails 2009-2010 with Jérôme Bel, and has also written “Je suis une école”, related to the project Bocal, a nomadic and ephemeral school.Charmatz has been associate artist of the 2011 Festival d’Avignon, invited to MoMA (New York) in 2013, Tate Modern (London) in 2012 and 2015, and Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid) in 2016. Since 2009, he serves as the director of the Centre chorégraphique national de Rennes et de Bretagne, which he proposes to transform into Musée de la danse, a museum of dance of a new kind.
