The
National Theatre of Greece presents a glorious
Aristophanic comedy with the outstanding
Nikos Mastorakis directing a cast of fine actors.
In The Clouds (423 BC), Aristophanes mercilessly satirizes the new ideas of the Sophists as embodied in the person of Socrates.
Strepsiades, a farmer deeply in debt as a result of his son’s decadent lifestyle, turns to Socrates’ school for help in learning how to twist the truth and take his creditors on in court. What can the struggle between Just and Unjust Discourse tell us about the present day?
