Orchestra of Colours – Miltos Logiades

Works by Ligeti, Berg, Hentze,  Lutoslawski

A regular for many years now at the Athens Festival, the Orchestra of Colours, founded by Manos Hadzidakis, is a stalwart adherent to Modernity. This year, the ensemble will be focusing on 20th-century music from Central Europe and performing emotionally-charged works by four of its finest exponents. At the programme’s core, Alban Berg’s heart-breaking violin concerto, dedicated to “the memory of an angel”: the 18-year-old daughter of Alma Mahler and the celebrated architect Walter Gropius.
