La Commune Grecque

Utopia or reality? Workers, immigrants, the unemployed and the homeless have taken to the streets to demand an end to injustice and privation. At last, a real revolution in Greece!

Based on Peter Watkins’ film La Commune (Paris, 1871), the production explores the dynamic of an uprising. But to quote Antoine Rivarol: “The people did not want the revolution, they only wanted its spectacle”: Is there a place for revolution in today’s “society of the spectacle”, or is the revolution condemned to discourse with itself alone?
